Adventure Painting
desert snow
With this Adventure Painting series, I wanted to paint in the elements, letting nature have a hand in the final product. I was in Old Forge, NY in January and watched all the snow fall. At night I would place watercolor paper out on the porch and let the snow flakes fall where they may. After a few seconds I would swoosh the papers in and use the snow as the water base for my ink to saturate. Not being able to control the elements as the snow dried in which ever way it wanted. For some reason in the snow I was day dreaming about the desert. Funny how the mind always wants what’s not in grasp at the moment. I thought of Arizona and all its beautiful colors along the horizon. These paintings are my memories of those places.
